Rugby for Heroes 2027: The Ultimate Mini & Junior Rugby Tour Weekend
For young rugby players, a tour should be about more than simply turning up, playing a few matches and heading home. It should be an experience that brings teammates together, creates new friendships and gives players memories they will talk about for years to come.
That is exactly what makes the Rugby for Heroes Festival 2027 such a special event.
Taking place from 2nd–4th April 2027 at the fantastic PGL Liddington Centre in Wiltshire, the weekend combines mini and junior rugby with adventure activities, team-building, evening entertainment and the opportunity to support an important charity.
Rugby, Adventure and Team Spirit
The Rugby for Heroes Festival is designed to give mini and junior teams a genuine touring experience without the need for complicated travel between venues.
The rugby festival itself takes place on site at PGL Liddington, meaning that once your team arrives and settles in, everything you need for the weekend is right on your doorstep.
The 2027 festival is open to U7–U13 teams and U12 & U14 girls teams, with the rugby played in accordance with RFU age-grade regulations. There are Spirit of Rugby awards for the younger age groups, while U12, U13 and U14 teams compete for Winner and Runner-Up trophies.
But rugby is only part of the experience.
Adventure Activities Included
Away from the pitch, players can take part in a range of exciting activities led by experienced PGL instructors.
Depending on the programme, activities can include experiences such as abseiling, zip wire, vertical challenge, trapeze, archery tag and giant swing. These activities give players the chance to step outside their comfort zones while encouraging teamwork, communication and confidence.
For many young players, these experiences become just as memorable as the rugby itself.
There is something particularly special about seeing teammates encourage each other through a challenge, celebrate when someone succeeds and discover new strengths away from their usual training environment.
An Evening of Team Bonding
The fun doesn’t stop when the rugby and daytime activities finish.
The weekend includes an evening activity programme designed specifically for the touring groups, with activities such as capture the flag, campfires, Ambush and PGL Sports Night. These provide another opportunity for players to spend time together, have fun and strengthen those team relationships.
There is also a very popular Karaoke competition on Saturday evening, giving the whole touring party the chance to relax, dress up and celebrate being on tour together and cheer each other on.
Supporting Rugby for Heroes
One of the most important aspects of the weekend is its connection with Rugby for Heroes.
The charity works with the rugby community to raise funds and awareness while supporting military personnel as they transition to civilian life. The charity recognises the strong similarities between rugby and the Armed Forces, including values such as leadership, teamwork, commitment, discipline, courage, respect, loyalty and camaraderie.
Burleigh Travel is proud to support the charity, and a donation will be made for every person travelling with us to the event.
So while your team is enjoying a fantastic rugby weekend, you will also be helping to support an important cause.
Everything Taken Care Of
Planning a tour for a mini or junior rugby section can involve plenty of organisation. That’s why the Rugby for Heroes package is designed to make the weekend as straightforward as possible for clubs.
Accommodation is provided at PGL Liddington, with modern en-suite rooms, while breakfast, lunch and dinner are included throughout the weekend. The venue can also cater for vegetarian options, allergies, intolerances and special dietary requirements.
The location is another major advantage. Situated just outside Swindon near Junction 15 of the M4, Liddington is easily accessible for clubs travelling from across the UK.
And because the accommodation, activities and rugby festival are all based at the same venue, there is no need to spend your weekend travelling between different locations.
More Than Just a Rugby Festival
Ask anyone who has been on tour and they will tell you that the best memories often happen away from the rugby pitch.
The excitement of arriving somewhere new. The laughter during activities. The encouragement from teammates when someone faces a challenge. The evening Karaoke. The parents and coaches socialising together.
And, of course, the rugby itself.
These are the experiences that help bring a team closer together and make a rugby tour so much more than a collection of matches.
Previous visitors to the Rugby for Heroes Festival have highlighted exactly this, with one club describing how their players worked together, faced challenges and encouraged one another throughout their weekend at PGL Liddington.
