Burleigh Travel organised a champagne reception followed by a delicious three course meal at the luxury surroundings of the new Hotel du Vin in Cheltenham to raise money for the Tamara Johnson Trustâ€, a young Bath Ladies rugby player who injured her spine earlier this year.
The evening was hosted by Gloucester Rugby legends Mike Tindall (MBE) and Andy Deacon who discussed next season’s fixture list while recalling some exciting encounters and stories from their past.
During the evening, a charity auction raised £1,600 for the Tamara Johnson Trust, a rugby player who broke her neck while playing rugby for Bath Ladies in February 2008. She had a six hour operation to repair smashed vertebrate in her neck which included damage to the spinal cord.
She is currently based in Odstock Hospital in Salisbury where she has paralysis from the chest down. Her long term prognosis is unknown but she will be hospitalised for a large period of time.
The Tamara Johnson Trust Fund†has been set up to help support her long term future, through things such as physiotherapy and home/family support, and your donations tonight will be greatly appreciated and make a huge difference.
During the evening, Burleigh Travel also launched our sponsorship of the Gloucester RFC 2008/09 fixture card as well as our exciting new Heineken Cup Supporters Tours to follow Gloucester RFC in their 2008/09 European Campaign. For more information please click here.
