Senior Cricket Tour to The Algarve

The players from University of Southampton Cricket Club enjoyed a week long cricket tour to The Algarve in Portugal.

The fantastic nightlife on ‘The Strip’ and two fixtures against Barringtons Cricket Club who were brilliant hosts, formed the main focus for the cricket tour.

Upon their return, the tour leader provided the following summary in a letter to Burleigh Travel:

19 Members of the Southampton University Cricket Club went to Portugal at the end of June 2008 for a week of cricket in the sun. The hotel was very good with decent sized rooms and a good view of the surrounding area and a great pool. The location itself was perfect for a tour with a very lively strip for the evenings with many bars and clubs and a long sandy beach for the days. All of these within walking distance of each other.

As for the cricket, it was thoroughly enjoyable with the opposition a similar standard to ourselves and a very friendly group of players, which included the owner of the Nandos restaurant chain and more importantly Will Greenwood, (the ex England rugby star; seen bowling below)!

All in all it was a fantastic cricket tour and one which everybody enjoyed.
